Brno (EN)

Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic and a centre of southern Moravia, has almost 400 thousand inhabitants. As a city of science, research and innovation, Brno also aims to respond to the global environmental challenges and is currently planning to get involved in an innovation network of "SmartCities".

Brno city has contributed to climate protection. For instance, by insulation of 27 schools in the city and 2 hospitals that saved annually 2,670 tons of CO² emissions. Another 8 projects of renovation is in planning phase.

Brno is currently also preparing, in cooperation with the public, a plan for sustainable urban mobility, which aims to reduce noise, emissions and other air pollution and to also provide residents and visitors a wider range of alternative environmentally friendly transportation.
